MISS MACDONALD WILL NOT CRITICISE.

(Special to the “Star.”) LONDON, November 8. Large numbers of people were unable to obtain admission to the Hampstead Town Hall last night, when Miss Ishbel MacDonald addressed a Labour Party meeting on “My Impressions of America.” The hall was packed an hour before the time the meeting was due to begin. “ It is most surprising to get a welcome like this from Hampstead,” said Miss Ishbel. She went on to recall her school days in Hampstead, when parents warned their children not to talk to her because she was Ramsay MacDonald s daughter. Needless to say, she. said, those children did not obey their parents. Referring to her visit to the United States, Miss MacDonald said she would like to see more people going there and to Canada for their holidays. Then they would have a better understanding between the two sides of the Atlantic than they had at present. Asked what she thought of American women, Miss MacDonald said it was not the first time she had been asked the question, but she had always refused to answer. It was not because what she thought of them was “ unsayable,” but because it was a personal matter, and she did not believe in talk-; ing about what one thought of other people.” Responding to the clamour outside the building, Miss Ishbel addressed an overflow gathering.
