MAN REFUSES TO DISCLOSE NAME.
IS FOUND IN STREET AFTER TAKING POISON. Per Press Association. PALMERSTON NORTH, Jan. 3. Unusual circumstances surround the discovery last evening of a man lying unconscious on the pavement in the Square. Shortly after nine o’clock constables on the beat were called to the man’s assistance. He was obviously seriously ill. He was removed to the police station, a doctor was summoned, and a stomach pump was used to counteract the effects of poison. The man, it is stated, refused to give his name, and all his personal papers had been destroyed. It was ascertained that he came from Auckland on New Year’s Eve. Apparently he is about thirty-two years of age. He was admitted to the hospital.
