WILL MAN TRAINS WITH FREE LABOUR.
N.S.W. GOVERNMENT takes action in strike. MINERS THREATEN TO WITHDRAW SAFETY MEN. (United Press Assn.—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) (Received January 3 r 11.30 a.m.) SYDNEY, January 3. The Railway Commissioners have decided to man trains taking provisions into Rothbury with men who are not members of the Union. The Minister of Mines, Mr Weaver, stated that coal-hewing at Rothbury was now in full swing and the output was equal to that of normal times. No labourers had left the mine as had been alleged. A conference of representatives from all the northern miners’ lodges was held at Cessnock. It was decided that should the coal proceedings before the Arbitration Court break down all the safety men would be withdrawn from the northern pits and each mine would be mass picketed.
