OBITUARY.
THOMAS QUEALY. The death occurred yesterda}’ - of Mr Thomas Quealy, of Kaituna, in his seventy-eighth year. Mr Quealy was born in County Waterford, Ireland, in 1852. He was educated at a grammar school in Dungarvan, and subsequently in the Catholic University. In 1879 he sailed for New Zealand, and almost immediately on landing was engaged on the construction of the railway line from Lincoln to Birdling’s Flat. This completed, he took up the position of clerk and surveyor to the Little River and Tai Tapu Road Boards, but later acquired land in the Little River district and became the owner of a large dairy farm. Mr Quealy, apart from his other duties, always took a great interest in the progress of the district of his adoption, being actively connected with any forward movement likely to advance its interests.
THE REV M. G. PEARSE. (United Press Assn.—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) LONDON, January 1. The death has occurred of the Re\ Mark Guy Pearse, a prominent Methodist Minister, who had been connected with the West London Mission for the past fourteen years. He was born or January 3, 1842.
