It is expected that the overseas tourist traffic to New Zealand will be fairly heavy this summer. The visitors arrive in January, and the season is at its height in February and March. Bookings at the Government Tourist Bureau in Christchurch during Christmas period were heavier than in the similar period of 1925. Many people booked for the Milford Track, while Rotorua. Waitomo, Tongariro National Park, Mount Cook and Queenstown were well patronised. Under ideal weather conditions, the Rangiora Friendly Societies’ excursion to Otira was held yesterday. Contrary to expectations, only 310 made the journey, but all spent an enjoyable time. A good proportion of the excursionists walked from Arthur’s Pass to Otira.
