MAGISTRATE’S COURT.
CHRISTCHURCH. (Before Mr 11. P. Lawry, f M.) DRUNKENNESS. Joseph Percy Morcan, who pleaded guilty to a charge of drunkenness, was sentenced to seven days’ imprisonment. On a charge* of being drunk and quarrelsome and failing to leave licensed premises, he was convicted and discharged. REMANDED. Thomas Robert O’Callaghan (Mr Sargent) charged with obscene exposure was remanded to January 7, on the application of Chief-Detective Carroll. Bail was allowed in the sum of £SO, one surety of £SO or two of £25. LYTTELTON. (Before Mr W. T. Lester, J.P.) Michael M’Gurk pleaded guilty to charges of drunkenness and of fighting in a public place. He was convicted and discharged for drunkenness. On the other charge he was fined £3, in default seven days’ imprisonment. Phillip Dwyer, a member of the crew of the Mahana, pleaded guilty to a charge of fighting in a public place. He was convicted and fined £2, in default seven days’ imprisonment. Sergeant Dunlop, said that the two men started to fight and a number of others joined in. Timothy Murray and Hugh Miller, two second offenders for drunkenness, were each fined 20s, in default twentyfour hours’ imprisonment.
