FUNERAL OF FATHER O’HARE HELD TO-DAY.
With the solemn rites of the Roman ’Catholic Church, the remains of the Rev Father Alexander O’Hare, lately parish priest at Beckenham, were laid to rest at the Bromley Cemetery this morning. Requiem Mass was celebrated at the Cathedral, Barbadoes Street, and was attended by a large congregation, consisting mostly of those who had been his parishioners at one time or another. As the coffin was borne out of the Cathedral, it was preceded by a procession of clergy, whicl\ slowly marched towards the gates, singing the Solemn Gregorian Chant. On either side was a guard of honour made up of mem bers of the Hibernian Australasian Catholic Benefit Society. To save the public the trouble of lighting fires at the Waimakariri Gorge on Sunday, when an excursion train will be run, the Railway Department has arranged for a supply of boiling water. Six coppers will be taken down from Otaira and a surfaceman will be employed, with instructions to have the water boiling when the train ar rives. This is the first time in recent years that the Department has run a trip to the Waimakariri Gorge. The train will leave Christchurch at 9 a.m
