KING SENDS NEW YEAR GREETINGS TO EMPIRE.
(United Press Assn.—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) (Received January 2, 11.30 a.m.) RUGBY, January 1. In a telegram to the Lord Mayor of London acknowledging New Year greetings the King says: “ I deeply value the affectionate allusion to rny restoration to health and to the Queen and members of my family. I fervently join in the hope that God’s blessing, peace and general well-being may be vouchsafed to the nations of the world, and may the New Year inspire the people of our Empire with a solemn resolve to secure an increasing measure of prosperity. There are difficulties to be overcome, but these I know will be faced with the courage and enterprise traditional to the citizens of London.*'
