The usual Christmas felicitations were exchanged at the conclusion of the meeting of the City Council at 12.5 a.m. to-day. The Mayor (the Rev J. K. Archer) wished all the councillors and also the Town Clerk and the staff, a merry Christmas and a happy New Year. Councillors E. 11. Andrews and D. G. Sullivan, M.P., responded on behalf of the council and extended good wishes to the Mayor and Mayoress. The council had an exceptional amount of business to transact in committee and the meeting was of considerably longer duration than has been the case for some time past.
