TINWALD SALE. (Special to the “ Star/’) ASHBURTON, December 17. The final sale this year was held at the Tinwald yards to-day, there being a big entry of fat sheep. The quality was good and prices for ewes showed an easier tendency. KAURI TIMBER COMPANY. (Special to the “ Star.”) AUCKLAND, December 17. The annual report of the Kauri Timber Company for the year ended August 31 states that the profits for the year, after providing for depreciation, were £20,734, in addition to which the amount brought forward was £653. The directors have transferred £ISOO from the dividend equalisation fund, making a total of £22,888. A dividend of 3 per cent, as announced on November 16, absorbs £22,500, leaving £3BB to be carried forward. Shareholders’ funds, comprising £750,000 of capital and various reserves, reached a total of £1,069,218 in 1925, since when they have fallen to £989,091, the amount shown in the latest balance-sheet. The gross profits for the past year are stated at £87,605, against £91,613 in the previous year. Management expenses have been reduced from £45,667 to £39,448, in addition to which is £4357 provided for income tax. Depreciation totals £10,752. against £10,951, and repairs and maintenance £8221, against £IO,OIO. Bad debts amount to £1835, against £2944. Appropriations for insurance amount to £2257, against £2109. Liabilities other than shareholders’ funds have been reduced by £6383 to £30,360. Loans on deposit a year ago amounted to £12,101. This item does not appear in the present account. Sundry creditors have increased from £18,805 to £27,843, but liability to the bankers at £1554, is less by £396. The amount due to contractors on account of logs is £BBB, as against £3783. The principal item among the assets, stock-in-trade, is £239,763, against £284,241. Sundry debtors total £90,453, as against £107,292. Shares in other companies remain at £148,471, but other investments have increased by £69,055 to £152,378.
