CAPTAIN CLARK REPORTS THAT PASSENGERS ARE SAFE, BUT THAT THE SHIP WILL PROVE TO BE A TOTAL LOSS. Per Press Association. DUNEDIN, December 17. Advice has been received that the Union Company s steamer Manuka, en route from Bluff to Dunedin, went ashore at Long Point (off the Catlins district) about 11 o'clock last night in a heavy fog. The weather was calm. The passengers are believed to have been taken ashore bg the ship's boats. The tug Dunedin has been dispatched to the Manuka's assistance.
