MAN NARROWLY ESCAPES FROM BLAZING HOUSE.
Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, December 17. A house in Pine Street, Mount Eden, was found on fire at 2 a.m. by a neighbour, who aroused O. Walker from his sleep. The centre of the house was burning fiercely. Walker fought his way down a smoke-filled passage in intense heat, and escaped through the back door with his face and chest scorched. Walker was alone on the premises, which were destroyed. The house and furniture were insured for: £6OO '
