Smuggling of liquor from Canada into the United States over the Niagara River bridge has been carried on by motorists, who put bottles beneath their cars. To circumvent this practice, Customs officers have excavated a dip in the road near the bridge. In the hole they have placed a mirror, in which any liquor slung beneath the cars is reflected. This device saves the officers the trouble of crawling under each car in their search for the contraband beverage.
