The Amalgamated Metal Corporation, Ltd., has been registered with a capital of £500.000 to acquire the British Metal Corporation, Ltd., and Henry Gardner and Company, Ltd. The directors include Sir Auckland Geddes and Mr W. S. Robinson. STERLING. (Received December 10, 10.45 a.m.) NEW YORK, December 9. Sterling advanced on the New York market to-day above 4.881, at which level export to Britain would appear to be profitable. This is the highest level since the end of 1927. DAIRY PRODUCTION SHOWS SLIGHT RISE. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, December 10. The Dairy Division grading figures for the four months ended November, 1929, show an increase for butter of 12.14 per cent at 13.800 tons, and for cheese a decrease of 1.4 per cent at 11,989 tons, as compared with the corresponding period of the preceding season. Reduced to terms of butter-fat, the equivalent gradings of dairy produce for the eleven months show tn increase of 4.53 per cent over the gradings for the corresponding periods of the preceding season. AMERICAN APPLES IN ENGLAND AND GERMANY. Messrs T. Boss-Walker. Limited, ot Hobart, are tn receipt of advice from Messrs Yeoward Brothers, of Liverpool, that., on October 15 last, Washington. Jonathans were bringing up to 16s a box and M’lntosh Reds up to 16s 3d a box. On the same date, according to advices received by Messrs T. Boss-Walker. Limited, from the Lnternationale Prucht-Import-Gesellschaft, of Hamburg, Jonathans were selling in that market up to 17 marks a box.
