FRENCH AUDIENCE OBJECTS TO USE OF ENGLISH IN TALKIE.
POLICE CLEAR HALL FOLLOWING A RIOT. (United Press Assn.—-By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) PARIS. December 8. There was a serious riot at the Moulin Rouge Cinema Theatre to-night, when the audience objected to the use of English in a talkie. They made a mass attack on the box office and demanded the return of their money. The police arrived, and sent the people back to their seats in the hope that the film would be changed When this was not done the disturbance was renewed. The police eventually cleared the hall. It was stated that the outbreak was fomented by the musicians who have been thrown idle by foreign infringements.
