CRICKET.
HAWKE CUP MATCH. Per Press Association. PALMERSTON N., December 10. A cricket match for the Hawke Cup between Manawatu (the holders) and Hawke’s Bay (the challengers) was commenced this morning in fine weather. Hawke’s Bay won the toss and batted, Worker and Temperton opening. Soon after the start Worker snicked one off M’Vicar to leg, and Norris accepted the catch. Hudson was next, but after making two he was bowled by Gallichan. Lowry was next man in. Reaney and Lowry batter carefully, 20 being scored after 40 minutes. With the total at 35 Lowry snicked one from M’Vicar, and Norris accepted the chance. Shepherd was the next batsman. Reaney, after making 28 was caught easily by Greig. Elliott did not last long, being caught by Ongly. The next batsman was O’Brien. At the luncheon adjournment the score was six for 80. • HAWKE'S BAY. First Innings.
