LAWN TENNIS.

STRONG NOR’-WESTER AFFECTS THE PLAY. The third round of the senior interclub competition was played at Wilding Park on Saturday afternoon in fine, but blustery weather. The strong - nor’-west-er affected the play, which was below the standard seen on previous Saturdays. The strong United team won all six matches against Fendalton, but some of the sets were very evenly contested. T. A. Se.ay and P. O. Greenwood beat W. S. Somerville and J. R. Crawshaw, 6-2, S-10, 6-4, in a prolonged match, which provided patches of bright ten nis. Another three-set match was that between .1. R- Crawshaw and P. G Greenwood. The older and more experienced player was steadier than his active opponent, and won, 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 Keen competition was seen in matches between Avonside and Linwood. Each side won two singles and a doubles. Avonside were victorious by one set. Cashmere had a bye. SENIOR. FENDALTON v. UNITED. (United names first.) Singles—l. A. Seay beat W. S.
