U.S. SENATE INCREASES TARIFF ON WOOL.
(United Press Assn.—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) (Received December 7, 11.30 am.) WASHINGTON, December 6. The Senate voted for several compensatory increases in the wool schedule of the Tariff Bill, advocated by the chairman of the Finance Committee, Mr Smoot, as a result of the Senate’s increase of the raw wool duty from 31 to 34 cents a pound. The duties were raised as follows: Scoured wool, from 34 cents a pound to 37 cents; wool on the skin, from 29 cents to 32 cents; sorted or matchings wool, from 32 cents to 35 cents.
