THE DAT on which the Engagement of Prince Umberto, the Crown Prince of Italy, to Princess Marie Jose, of Belgium, was officially announced (October 24), an attempt was made to murder the Prince as he was about to lay a wreath on the Unknown Warrior’s Tomb in Brussels. Fortunately the shot went wide, the police surrounding the assailant. The Prince is here seen on his arrival at Brussels on October 23. The photograph shows the Prince (at the left without a hat) and the King of the Belgians.
