A PILOT AND PASSENGER were killed when a Moth aeroplane crashed into the sea at Gerringong Beach (N.S.W.) on November 16. Jesse O’Connor, pilot, was carrying William Berg, newspaper photographer, who was taking aerial photos, of motor races, when the aeroplane crashed and fell into the surf. Both men were killed instantly and the 'plane was wrecked. Dashing to the rescue, Harold Miller almost lost his life, being so exhausted after a desperate but unsuccessful swim through the surf that he had to be assisted to shore.
