MUCH STOCK FOR ROYAL SHOW TO GO FROM CANTERBURY.

SPECIAL TRAIN LEAVES ADDINGTON SATURDAY

Fairly heavy bookings are being made from North Canterbury for trucks on the special stock train which will leave Addington on Saturday for In* vercargill, where the Royal Show will be held next Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. The train will take from Addington the stock which will arrive from the North Island by the ferry steamer that morning, and will pick up other trucks at stations between here and Invercargill. Stock to be sent from the North Island will comprise nineteen head of cattle, twenty-three sheep, four horses and eight pigs. It is possible that these numbers may be increased. Orders are still being taken at Christchurch for North Canterbury live stock exhibits. Bookings so far total fourteen cattle trucks and five sheep trucks. All stock stopping at Palmerston North to-night will travel to Wellington to-morrow. All North Island stock will be shunted to the Wellington Harbour Board sheds to-morrow afternoon, and will arrive at Lyttelton ex the Wahine on Saturday morning. This stock will be run through the same morning to Addington, where green feed will be provided. All stock from North Canterbury and the Southbridge line will be taken to Addington and, with the North Island exhibits, will be conveyed by special train to Invercargill. The train will leave Christchurch on Saturday at 11.25 a.m., Addington at 11.41 a.m., and will arrive at Dunedin at 10.17 p.m., and Invercargill at 6.20 a.m. on Sunday. Stock will be picked up by the train also at Timaru, Morven and Palmerston. The animals will be fed and watered at Oamaru. Arrangements have been made for suitable carriage accommodation and supply\of refreshments for attendants. The return special stock train will leave Invercargill about 9 p.m. next Thursday, arriving at Christchurch about 2.30 p.m. on the following day. All North Island stock will return by the ferry steamer Maori the same night. Mr C. Swift, of Feilding, has been appointed by the Royal Agricultural Society to take charge of the train.
