SCEPTICAL DOCTOR SCOUTS REPORTS OF SPIRIT PHENOMENA.
DECLARES “ MESSAGES ” HAVE NOT SOLVED A SINGLE PROBLEM. (United Press Assn.—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) LONDON, December 4. The view that the so-called spiritualistic manifestations, which are at present the centre of controversy as an outcome of Rudolf Schneider’s seances, were in effect the workings of man’s sub conscious mind, is argued by Dr Bernard Hollander. “When a man is murdered, and the culprit is not found, why does not the victim’s ghost appear and give information to the mourning relatives?” Dr Hollander asked. “If there are spirits and there is any love for humanity in the other world, their manifestations should not require the intervention of uneducated professional mediums, together with their commonplace interpretations.” Dr Hollander declared that there was not a single message received which could throw any light on any of the great problems affecting humanity.
Attention has been focussed on the first of a series of seances at the National Laboratory of Psychical Research at South Kensington, an unofficial body, for the purpose of testing a young Austrian named Rudolf Schneidtfr, who is said to be the most remarkable medium in the world. The tests will be most elaborate, and will be conducted secretly by six scientists whose names will not be revealed until they issue their report.
