i Soundings made yesterday by the crew of the Sumner life-boat showed that, off Beacon Rock, thtre was a depth of fourteen feet at high tide. Thence for about three hundred yards a depth of nine feet was registered. Breakers extending a dong distance out in an easterly wind with an ebb tide suggest the existence of a big submarine sand bank far off shore.
