TWO THOUSAND NEW 'PHONES FOR CITY.
WAITING SUBSCRIBERS WILL BE CONNECTED BY END OF 1 HIS YEAR.
Two thousand sets of apparatus for new telephones are at present being installed in the automatic exchange to cope with the increase in the number of subscribers expected by tF e Post and Telegraph Department. Over 200 people are waiting to become subscribers, and all of these will be connected before the end of the year, it is hoped. Telegraph officials describe the new automatic exchange as an unqualified success. Complaints are very *ew, and everything is going smoothly.
