BURWOOD PROGRESSIVE ASSOCIATION HOLDS ANNUAL MEETING.

At the annual meeting of the Burwood Progressive Association, there were present—Messrs W. R. Burnett (chairman), R. J. Ecroyd, W’ J. ghearman, R. Nixon, J. Peters, F.Reabv, J. Wetherall, H. Reaby, T.* Turner, G. Lewis, J. Cowan, S. Smith, G. F. Robinson, J. Liggins, G. Reed, H. O'Donnell and J. L. Menzies. The president, Mr W R. Burnett, m reviewing the 3 r ear’s work, said that the results achieved had been very satisfactory. Two most important matters at present under consideration were the Travis swamp drainage scheme and the erection of flood gates at the outlet to Bottle Lake; and these, it was sincerely hoped, might be carried to a successful issue. Very grati tying, too, had been the work carried out bv the City Council at Burwood Park. ' * -

Mr J. Liggins, in thanking the president, congratulated him on his successful year of office. lie also voiced appreciation of the excellent work done by the secretary. Mr R. J. Ecroyd. The election of officers resulted as follows;—President, Mr G Lewis; vice presidents, Messrs J. Cowan and'G. F Robinson; secretary and treasurer, Mr R. J. Ecroyd; executive, Messrs R. Nixon, J. Peters, W. R. Burnett, J. Liggins, G. Reed and H. Reaby. delegates to the United Burgesses’ Association, Messrs G. Lewis and R. J. Ecroyd, with Messrs J. Cowan and G. F Robinson as sub-delegates; social ''ommittee, Messrs G. Reed, 11. Reaby, R. J. Ecroyd, G. Lewis, J. Wetherall and J. L. Menzies. The social committee reported a small credit balance, which it was decided to hand over to the general fund.

It W-. 5 agreed to request the War mairi County Council to ha\p additional lights placed in Travis Road between Bassett Street and Bottle Lake Road.
