HARE WOOD CLUBS CHAMPIONSHIP WON BY R. G. THOMSON. R. G. Thomson defeated J. S. Wilson, S up and 6, in the final of the Harewood club’s championship during the week-end. In the morning, Thomson finished 5 up. Wilson’s long game was even better than Thomson’s, but he failed on the greens. Thomson’s putting was very accurate. At the first hole in the second round, Wilson won in three and had an ISin putt for a win at the second, but missed. This failure seemed to upset him for the rest of the game. He lost his second shot at the third hole, which Thomson won in 4. The fourth hole was halved in 3. Thomson won the fifth in 5 and the sixth, but lost the seventh when Wilson did a bogey 5 to Thomson’s 6. Thomson won the eighth and ninth, leaving him 7 up at the turn. The tenth was won by Thomson in 4, but Wilson won the eleventh in 3, leaving Thomson dormie 7. Thomson won the twelfth in 4, leaving him winner by S up and 6. Entries for the Closing Day Cup must be in the hands of the secretary, Mr R. de G. Robilliard, by 5 p.m. on Friday. Players not members of the Ilarewood club can enter only if members of teams in the cup match. AVONDALE CLUB. On Saturday the bogey handicap on the Avondale links was won by L. •). Killiek.
