DAYLIGHT SAVING OPERATES TO-MORRO W.

Half an hour will be taken from the year 1929 when daylight saving commences at 2 a.m. to-morrow. Clocks will be advanced half an hour, officially at 2 a.m. to-morrow, but more popularly at bedtime to-night. Daylight saving will continue in operation until 2 a.m. on Sunday, March 16, 1930, when clocks will be put back half an hour for the winter.

The only service which is likely to be behind the new time to-morrow is the ferry steamer from Wellington. She will leave at the ordinary time tonight, but clocks will have been ad vanced half an hour before she arrives at Lyttelton. The railway and other public services will observe the new time throughout the summer, and, ex cept in the case of the Christchurch trams, there will be no alteration in timetables. There is a possibility that the tram timetables will be revised somewhat.
