For the six months ended September 30 last, the sum of £2246 was paid in rates in the lleatheote County, oti the new levy, which amounts to £17,354. The sum paid is £6OO less than the suin paid during the first six months of the previous financial year. The annual Altar Service, when Salvation Army congregations are asked to personally place their offerings on the altar for missionary and social work, will be held to-morrow evening in the Citadel, Victoria Square. The service will be conducted by Ensign /•’ian Montgome .*. Captain Robinson, the assistant city officer, will give a farewell address at this service.
