WILL UNITE POWERS IN DISCUSSION UPON NAVAL PROBLEMS.

CUnlted Preua Assn.~~By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) (Received October 12, 11.30 a.m.) RUGBY, October 11. The United States* acceptance of Great Britain’s invitation to the London Five-Power Naval Conference next January, which was announced in Washington yesterday, expresses the belief that the conference " will unite the Powers who are signatories to the Washington Treaty in a discussion which will anticipate problems under Article XXI. of the Treay and broaden its whole scope by the inclusion of other categories of ships.” According to newspaper correspondents, the British Prime Minister, in conversations with President Hoover, discussed in a gen ral way the whole field of Anglo-American relations, from bootlegging to naval bases. The ‘‘ Daily Herald ” says that all they did, however, was to decide definitely that every such subject shall be made the theme of conversations between the two Governments, to be carried on in the game way as General C. G. Dawes and Mr MacDonald discussed the position of eruisers before the latter’s visit to the States. Before this can be done, however, Mr MacDonald on his return will take the usual steps and discuss matters with the proper authorities, so that the British position may be defined as preliminary to conversations with the American Ambassador.—British Official Wireless.
