MARKET REPORTS. BURNSIDE. Per Press Association. DUNEDIN, August 21. Although there was a iirm demand for most classes of fat stock at the Burnside sales to-day, prices showed a noticeable decline for fat cattle and sheep. Pigs met with a firm sale and values showed a slight advance. Good average quality bullocks, heifers and cows comprised the yarding of 203 fat cattle. The entry included a few pens of extra choice medium cows. The demand was spirited for the best animals, but prices declined from £1 to £1 15s per head. Heavy bullocks sold from £23 to £24; medium £l9 to £2O; light £l7 to £lB 15s; heavy heifers £ls to £l6 ss; medium £l4 to £ls; light £l2 15s to £l3; heavy cows £l6 IBs to £l7 7s 6d; medium £l4 to £ls 15s; light £l2 to £l3 15s. Prime ox beef sold on a basis of about 56s per 1001 b. There was a large yarding of sheep, the entry comprising heavy medium ewes and about 600 fine woolled animals, also several pons of. good hoggets. The yarding could be classed as one representing all classes. The demand was easier. Heavy wethers sold at a reduction of from Is to Is 6d, and medium wetlhers about 2s per head. The market for ewes was about the same as the previous sale, until towards the close, when prices showed a slight reduction. Extra prime wethers sold/ from 65s 9d to 595; prime 53s 9d; medium 4 9s; lighter sorts 355. Prime ewes made. 40s; medium 35s 3d; light 265. Prime mutton sold on a basis of about 7d per lb. The dairy cattle entry consisted of 150 head, chiefly cows and a few pens of bullocks. There was a fairly good demand and prices were about on a par with late rates. Three-year-old bullocks made to £l4 13s. The pig entry consisted of 102 fats and 29 stores. Prime baconers and porkers met with good competition, while stores were also in demand at satisfactory prices. Prime baconers sold on a basis of 8d and prime porkers about 72d per lb. STOCK EXCHANGE.
