CHRISTCHURCH TO HAVE DIRT TRACK RACING.
It is anticipated that Christchurch will be treated to the thrills of dirttrack racing in November next. A company has been formed with a capital of £BOOO to construct a dirt-track at Monica Park, and to build there a stadium capable of accommodating from 12,000 to 14,000 people. It is proposed to bring an expert from Australia to lay down the track—probably the man who laid down the Brisbane track. The track will be a quarter of a mile round and will be lighted by a special system of electric lights. It is probable that a grass track will be laid inside the dirt track to provide for ordinary cycling events. The work will be started Almost immediately.
