BETTY’S FAMILY TEA.

The family is a crowd of five, And Betty is the cook, She’s cooked a long time so she’s learned To cook without her book. There’s Teddy—he likes plum pudding, And Jacico, apple pie; If Kitty doesn’t, get her milk— She’ll want to know just why! Big Colly likes a juicy bone, Nutty prefers some fish, And Betty very carefully Cooks each a special dish. She ties a serviette on each, Sets them a tiny chair, Then sees to all their wants and needs With just a mother’s care. There’s Teddy fills his mouth too full, Then very nearly chokes, \nd Jacko steals poor Nutty’s spoon—- ! le’s always playing jokes. Big Colly breaks his sharpest tooth, \nd Teddy spills his tea— Still, Betty tends the family— Ever so patiently. They’re really very well behaved And jolly as can be; Some day they will invite us all To Betty’s family tea. —V. Marie Abbott. ,
