LINDRUM MAKES GREAT BREAK IN MATCH WITH SMITH. (United Press Assn.—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) (Received July 5, 11.30 a.m.) MELBOURNE, July 5. Playing almost faultless billiards, Lindrum further increased his lead over Smith. The former ran together a break of 687 in twenty-four minutes twenty-five seconds. Scores:— Lindrum (playing), 8527; breaks, 68*. 565, 442, 458. Smith, 7195; breaks, 432, 410, 471, 403.—Australian Press Association. BILLIARDS CONTROL COUNCIL ISSUES RECORD CERTIFICATE. The Billiards Control Council has issued record certificates for the season to — William Lindrum, with a score of 1416, against Clark M’Conachy, on November 1, 1918, described as a world * record. Newman, with a score of 1231, against Smith, on September 19, 1928, an English record. There is no reference to Smith’s 2743 against Newman on November 14, 1928, apparently because no application has been made on its behalf.—Australian Press Association
