Olympic from America, where he won for Great Britain, the world’s speed records on land and water with his car “ Golden Arrow,” and his motor-boat “ Miss England.” Owing to the late arrival of the boat, much of the spectacular welcome by aeroplane and motor-boat had to be abandoned. As soon as Major Segrave arrived, it was announced that H.M. the King had approved the honour of Knighthood being conferred upon him.
