M. A. NOBLE CRITICISES BOARD OF CONTROL.
CRICKET.
POWERS MUST SHOW MORE IMAGINATION.
(United Press Assn.—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) LONDON, June 13. Biting criticism of the Cricket Board of Control is the outstanding feature of M. A. Noble’s book, “ The Fight for the Ashes,” published by Harraps. “ Unless the powers that be show more imagination than they have in recent years I cannot see any prospect of escaping from the pit into which we have drifted. Through sheer pigheadedness we neglected opportunities to encourage youth, with the result that we were never weaker in all departments of the game, and we muddled through badly. We have been up against a stonewall in the board, which is as barren of perspicacity as it is incapable of fostering the interests of the game. Men of experience were ne-%er consulted. They might be pirates, burglars, or bushrangers for all the authorities care.”
Noble is of opinion that the last eleven with the addition of colts and including a couple of spin bowlers if they could be discovered would make a good fight in 1930.—Australian Press Association.
