FOXTON TO BE LAUNCHED SHORTLY.
WILL BE USED ON N.Z. COASTAL TRADE.
The new steamer which is being built at Auckland for the LytteltonFoxton service, is expected to be launched some time next month. Captain H. Munro, who recently visited Auckland to view the progress of the work, stated this morning that he was very well satisfied. The vessel had been named the Foxton. The best heart of kauri planking, seasoned for about ten years, was being used, he said, and the hull would be made up of lour skins of a total thickness of S 3 inches. The vessel was of about 100 tons net register, and, being something of a new departure, it should arouse considerable interest amongst the waterfront fraternity. As the keel was laid down only little over two months ago he considered that the builder:-: had done smart work.
