MINISTERIAL. Sir Joseph Ward, accompanied by Mr Ben Wilson and Mr G. Neal, manager of the Tourist Department, left Rotorua for Auckland by the express this morning. He was accorded an enthusiastic farewell by his followers.— Press Association. The Hon G. W. Forbes, Minister of Lands, arrived in Christchurch from the north this morning. The Hon A. J. Stallworthy, Minister of Health, is expected in Christchurch on June 19. Before coming here he will pay a visit to the West Coast. The Hon P. A. de la Perrelle, Minister of Internal Affairs, is expected to arrive in Christchurch from the south on Monday morning. He will leave for Wellington the same evening. Sir Apirana Ngata, Minister of Native Affairs, Chief Judge Jones, of the Native Land Court, Mr Tuiti Makitanara, M.P. for Southern Maoris, Mr D. Erihana, North Island representative, and Mr H- Wixon, South Island representative, together with other members of the official party which visited Southland in connection with the Ngaitahu claim, left Invercargill yesterday afternoon for Dunedin, en route to Wellington. Mr Justice Adams will leave Christchurch for the West Coast on Monday. Mr Justice Smith will arrive in Christchurch on Tuesday to conduct a sitting of the Supreme Court here on that day. Mr R. E. Tripe, associate to the lion Mr Justice Blair, has been admitted as a barrister of the Supreme Court. Commander Boyle, Major Wilkes, Major Furby, Mr David Jones and Mr M. A. Hamilton arrived from the North this evening. General A. W. Andrew, who has been visiting Wellington, returned to Christchurch this morning. Mr Benjamin Myers was thrown while hunting with the Pakuranga pack this week, and had a collarbone broken. Mr C. H. Langford, waggon supply officer at the District Railway Office, is at present on annual holiday. Mr E. D Orr is relieving him. Mr B. R. Sword, railway district traf fie manager at Dunedin, and Mr J. Pickard, traffic manager at Invercargill, are at present in Christchurch on official business. The lion D. Buddo was yesterday welcomed as a new member of the Domains Board. “ I used to be a member lor the northern counties," he said. “ but when we were put on the list for levy purposes, we withdrew." Cable advice has been received in Wellington .from Australia that Sir Joseph Ward has been elected vicepresident of the Business Managers’ Association of Australia and New Zealand.—Press Association. The resignation of Mr 11. L. Wise as secretary of the Canterbury branch of the Economics Society was accepted last evening with regret. Tribute was paid to Mr Wise’s excellent work in connection with the society’s activities. Dr Morris Ax ford, of Auckland, has passed the final examination far the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons, London, according to cable advice received in Auckland. Dr Ax ford is a son of Mrs Axford, of Ridings Road, Remuera, and the late Dr S. B. Axford. of Te Aroha. lie is, an old boy of the Auckland Grammar School | and graduated M 8., Ch.B. at Otago University in 1924. A party was held at the home of Mr and Mrs Owens, 47, Curlett’s Road, Upper Riccarton, on Thursday, to celebrate the ninty-sixth birthday of Mr Owens, they having lived forty-eight years in the same house. Numerous telegrams were sent from all parts. Those present were: Mr and Mrs Owens, Mrs Caldcr, Mrs Anderson, Mrs Woods, Mrs Mander and family, Mrs Boveril and family, Mrs Glenn, Messrs Mander, Anderson (3). Calder (2), Glenn, Boveril, Blakeway. Ilitchen, Chandler and M’Kenzie. Music was kindly lent by Mrs Boveril.
