ELGAR’S CHORAL WORK “KING OLA F” TO BE PERFORMED NEXT WEEK
Already great interest has been aroused in tiv© performance of Elgar’s cantata, “King Olaf,” at the Municipal Concert Ilall on Tuesday week by a choir and orchestra of 14 0 under the direction of Mr Sidney Williamson. The saga of “King Olaf” is numbered among Elgar’s finest choral works. The performance is of special importance because it marks the end of the 20th year of Mr Williamson’s musical activity in Christchurch. Stot down for its first performance is the choral and orchestral work, “The Rejoicing of the Hours,” by Dorothy Filkins, the prize-winning composition in a competition organised recently l by the Society for Imperial Culture, Christchurch.
