COURSES CHOSEN FOR SANDERS CUP.
S.S. OREWA WILL TAKE THE BOATS TO AKAROA.
During Ihe week-end, Messrs H. G Lamb, S. Phillips, A. Willcocks, O. Barnes and E. Smith, delegates from the Canterbury Sailing and Power Boat Association, motored over to Akaroa and met the local committee, when the courses were discussed and arranged, a triangular course of three miles and a windward and leeward course of two miles and a half. The contestants will meet each morning and decide whether to race in the morning or afternoon, the first two races to be sailed on Thursday and Friday. February 14 and 15. The most spectacular course will be chosen, so that the boats will be in sight all the time and will finish at the end of the new wharf. It was resolved that arrangements be made with the s.s. Orewa to bring the boats a week before the contest, and to ask the Lyttelton Harbour Board for the loan of two trollies for launching the boats. It was decided to provide all the crews with tea at the boatsheds at the conclusion of each day’s racing.
