NORTH BEACH SCHOOL HAVE ANNUAL PICNIC.

The North Beach School held their annual school picnic at French Farm, and on this occasion were favoured with fine weather. The children were conveyed to the picnic by a bus, which made a succession of trips, and many of the parents went by motor-car. At two o’clock sharp Father Christmas arrived. and with him came a huge Christmas tree, laden with toys, etc., on a lorry, lent for the occasion by Mr A. Florance, on whose land the farm is situated. During the day a programme of races for the children was arranged, all drawing good entries and being keenly contested. The function was voted an unqualified success by all who attended, and a great deal of credit is due to the School Committee and the teaching staff for making and carrying out the arrangements. A very pleasing act of kindness was performed by the school children. One of the pupils at the school being stricken by paralysis, was in sore need of a new chair. The children, at their own suggestion, subscribed and purchased their little erinulc. friend a new chair. The sum of was raised altogether. £5 of which was raised in pennies. The new chair cost £7. The vendor of the chair also entered into the spirit of “ Unto the least of these,” and threw in a pair of crutches and a box of chocolates for the little sufferer.
