CHRISTMAS FAIR.
The Oddfellows’ Chambers, M.U., I. St Asaph Street, with its beautifully decorated Christmas tree, coloured lights and toys, presented a bright scene on Saturday afternoon, the occasion being the annual Christmas fair, held by the Loyal City of Christchurch Lodge, M.U., for the enjoyment of the members’ children. After a brief address, N.G. Brother A. J. Shearman introduced Father Christmas to the happy gathering of children and parents, numbering almost 500. The distribution of toy balloons and lollies then began in a spirit appropriate to the occasion. Afternoon tea, ice cream and soft drinks were supplied. The happy gathering then terminated, all the children wearing expressions of evident satisfaction. The combined efforts of an enthusiastic committee contributed greatly to the success of the function. Items, vocal and instrumental, were given by Mr Reg. Stevens, Mr J. Laurenson, and Norm Carson’s dance orchestra.
