URGES A TRADE UNION CONGRESS FOR EACH INDUSTRY. (United Press Assn.—By Electric Telegraph—Copy right. > (Received December 24, 12.30 p.m.) RUGBY, December 23. A Trade Union Congress for each industry is the latest idea of Lord Melchett, formerly Sir Alfred Mond, for furthering industrial co-operation. He is inviting workers in the Imperial Chemical Company to organise a Trade Union Consultative Council with representatives of all the various Trade Unions to which the 45,000 work people of the company belong. To this Council will be referred all questions that affect the welfare of the business and the livelihood of those who are engaged in it. Lord Melchett’s scheme is in the nature of an experiment.—British Official Wireless.
