CREDITORS CAN KEEP DEBTOR IN GAOL FOR 12 MONTHS.

Mr Justice Long-Jnnes gave a ruling in the Bankruptcy Court that, under the Defamation Act, a plaintiff who obtained a judgment against another person could keep that person in prison for twelve months. There was no power to release a judgment debtor except at the will of a judgment creditor.
