ENGINEERS WILL HOLD RIG MEETING IN CHRISTCHURCH
INTERESTING PAPERS WILL BE DISCUSSED
Many papers of a specially interesting and instructive nature to engineers will be read at the annual meeting of the New Zealand .Society of Civil Engineers, which will open in Christchurch on Tuesday, February 19. The meeting will probably be held in the School of Engineering at Canterbury College. The subject matters of the papers to be read and discussed will include: “ Composite Gravity Arch Dam,” “The Otira Tunnel,” “ 110,000-volt Transmission Line,” “ Water Supply Works,” “ Municipal Works of Hamilton,” “ Strengthening of Waiteti Railway Viaduct,” “ M’Laren’s Falls HydroElectric Scheme,” “ Economies of Development Studies and Standardisation ” and “ The Phosphates of Ocean Island.” There will also be other papers of interest. Delegates to the meeting will have the opportunity of visiting and inspecting the Lake Coleridge hydro-electric powerhouse, Lyttelton harbour works Christchurch sewerage works and sewage farm, tramways and power plant and engineering workshops and municipal works generally.
