CHILDREN'S PARTY.
The children’s fancy dress ball . in connection with the Spotswood School, which was held in the Spotswood Hall on Monday evening, was a most successful and enjoyable function, and fully maintained the high standard set on previous occasions. There was a very large attendance of children with their parents, the majority of the children being in fancy dress. The judges of the fancy costumes, Mesdames J. T. Read and \Y. Hughes and Miss B. Forbes, had- a difficult task in making their awards, which met with the approval of those present. The awards were as follows: Oven ten years— Cheapest, George Harrison (Red Indian) and Eunice Foster (Spring); best dress, boys. Roll Turner (Pirate); pret--1 tiest, girls, Mollie Wilson (Gipsy) : most | original, boys. Ron Sheffield (Black ■Cat); girls. Gertie Fitzgibbon; special, j Vernon Smith (Jockey). Under ten J years—Cheapest, Marion M’Lachlan j (Samples), l est dress, Tom Gibson 'Golliwog) ; prettiest, Joyce Buttle !(Butterfly); most original, Maurice ] Fitzgibbon (Collie) and Dorothy Coe ; (Edmonds' Baking Powder): specials. 'Monica Foster (No Strike), Billie Shefi field (Father Christmas), Nancy Harrison (Hawaiian), Erid Pcttingill (Sandwich Man), Elsie Harrison (Balloons). Under five years—Prettiest girl and special, Baby Erickerson (Cupid); best boy, Stewart Erickerson (Grasshopper). A very pleasing item was the presentation of a playette composed entirely by the scholars, and entitled “ The Nonsense School.” The evening concluded with a dance for adults. Music for dancing was supplied by Misses O. , Hughes and R. Fitzgibbon, Messrs M. Dunnage and R. White. The Spotswood School prize-giving was also held during the evening, the prizes being presented to the. children by Mr T. Stevenson. chairman of the Spotswood School Committee The prizes this year included a large number of specials, donated by Spotswood residents.
