TWO MEN CHARGED WITH ENTERING WAREHOUSE.
MAGISTRATE REFUSES REQUEST FOR BAIL.
(Special to the “Star.”)' AUCKLAND, December 20. Each pleading not guilty and reserving their defence, Bertie John Christian (27), grocer, and Kenneth Malcolm M’Donald (42), watersider, were committed for trial on charges of breaking and entering a warehouse and the theft of serge valued at £SB. It is alleged that they endeavoured to sell three pieces for £3 or £4. After two female witnesses had been questioned at some length concerning identification parades, counsel asked for bail. The Magistrate, Mr F. K. Hunt: I allowed Christian bail only a few weeks ago, when charged with breaking and entering another warehouse, and now, while out on bail, he’s arrested again for breaking and entering. No bail for him, or M’Donald either. Counsel: M’Donald is married with three children, and desires to be with his family for Christmas. Mr Hunt: They can both stav in. Bail is refused.
