FIRST TIME IN COURT.
“ This is the first time that I’ve been in Court, and it appears to me that everyone is treated as a criminal until he proves himself honest,” declared George Hampshire, when he was charged in the Magistrate’s Court to-day with being in possession of unregistered wireless apparatus. “ That’s all right,” replied Mr E. D. Mosley, S.M. “ You needn’t take the charge too seriously. You are charged only with an offence, not a crime. After defendant had complained about such things as revenue and Court charges, the Magistrate said, jocularly: “We are very much Government people, you knew; and we must get what revenue we can.” Defendant was fined 5s and costs.
