A CHILLY BLAST FOR MR HOOVER.
BY SIN BAD. The peace of this year’s. Christmastide Is broken in a shameful way By those antagonists well tried, Bolivia and Paraguay. In South American affairs One never is quite certain who The blame of all the trouble bears, Or which side’s is the version true. It seems each country noticed signs That trouble was about to burst, So each upon the other’s lines A sally made to get in first. The world throws up indignant hands, And U.S.A. for peace appeals, While each of the contesting lands Now to the League of Nations squeals. No mighty fears occur to me That trouble grave is in the air, For such a war is bound to be A comic opera affair. But Mr Hoover won’t be pleased, For it will give this Yank the pip To find a chilly blast has freezed His greatly boosted goodwill trip.
