WARDER AT MENTAL HOSPITAL FACES SERIOUS CHARGE.
PATIENT ALLEGES HE WAS KICKED. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, December 19. Henry Dixon Tyrer, forty-four, an hospital attendant at Porirua, was committed for trial to-day on a charge of doing bodily harm to a patient of the institution. Dr Hayes, medical superintendent, said that he was present when complainant’s evidence was given at the hospital, and was of the opinion that complainant was able to give rational testimony. He said that complainant was troublesome, but not violent. It was a common thing for patients to make complaints against the warders, and all were investigated. Dr Stout considered that complainant’s injuries were very severe. The injuries were consistent with complainant being kicked. Accused pleaded not guilty. Bail was allowed.
