DANCE AT SANATORIUM.
Fancy dress dances are always attractive both to dancers and onlookers, and that held at the Upper Sanatorium on Monday evening was no exception to the rule. The success of the dance was largely due to the energetic arrangements of the Social Committee, and also to the excellent music of the Dixieland Band, which for the past two years has generously given its services. The decorations were artistically carried out. Prizes for costumes were won by Miss Lynn and Mr Muir. Competitions and novelty dances offered wide variety, and appreciated items contributed included a song by Mr Rossiter and sketches by Mr Beauchamp. The pleasant co-operation of all aided the general good spirits of the evening, and lightened the responsibilities of the organising committee: Messrs A. R. Hawke (president), B. J. Muir (secretary), J. C. Torrens, R. Dawson, A. C. Rossiter, A. W. Thomas, A. Boucher, S. Burr, J. Anderson, D. Colville, H. Woodhouse and J. Wallace. At the conclusion of the evening Dr Aitken presented the prizes. He paid special tribute to the co-operation and help he had received during the year from the matron, Miss M’Leod, and Dr Pemberton. He also expressed the gratitude of the gathering to the band for having again given its services. Mr A. T.
